ECONOMICNEWS - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) witnessed the signing of two cooperation documents between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Two cooperation documents that the cooperation in cross-border crime which includes both drug and terrorism and cooperation to increase the capacity of human resources for the exploration of oil and energy.

"We welcome the signing of two memoranda of understanding," said Jokowi during a press conference with PNG Prime Minister Peter O'Neill in parliament, Port Moresby, on Tuesday (12/05/2015).
In the economic field, Jokowi and Prime Minister Peter O'Neill agreed to increase cooperation in various areas, encourage trade beyond the border market, encouraging the strengthening of cooperation and infrastructure investment as well as encouraging private sector involvement in the energy field of telecommunications and fisheries.
"We have also agreed to improve connectivity," he said.
In this case according to the president, the two countries agreed to open a pathway between Garuda Indonesia flights with Air Niugini. Intended flight path is Port Moresby - Denpasar - Jakarta and Port Moresby - Singapore - Jakarta.
"We welcome the agreement Garuda Indonesia to go share with Air New Guinea," said the president.
Jokowi called Papua New Guinea as a close neighbor and friend tightly Indonesia. He and Prime Minister O'Neill wants to make the momentum of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries closer and more intensive.
"For cooperation and mutual support between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea," said Jokowi.
